Adopt-A-Spot is one of the continuous projects that Campus Beautification works on. When I joined Campus Beautification it was a one year commitment. I overhauled the program and turned it into a three year deal. The way it works is the campus is divided into approximately 30 spots. Different groups on campus ranging from the football team to University Honors "adopt" the spots. When they commit to a spot they are responsible for going out and doing a litter pick-up at least twice a semester. For a sign up fee of $100 they can also purchase a handsome sign to put on their spot with their name. The project raised money through sign sales for Campus Beautification to do other initiatives, as well as helped instill a sense of environmentalism and pride in our campus.
Eventually we expanded Adopt-A-Spot to the Ag campus and now there are over 40 spots in all.
